Just over a year ago, I was given the opportunity to work on a book called The Complete Book of Creative Scrapbooking, published by Murdoch Books. In the book other than myself is Helen Williams, Tracy Robinson, Barbara Schipplock, Dawn Stan, Ngaire Bartlam, Lynita China, Abby Hogarth, Jody Dent-Pruks and Mischell Lancett. The book was put together by a fantastic lady who I am glad to have had the pleasure of working with Melody Lord.
This book caused much stress in my life, debating over if the work I had created was good enough, was it creative enough etc. Well today, all that went away!
When I arrived home from uni a courier package was sitting on my desk, I looked over the box trying to find out who it was from as I had not purchased anything recently so was not expecting anything. Well I opened it up and much to my delight, the book was inside!!!! I have just spent the last little while leaving a voice mail for Sean to tell him it arrived, emailing Melody with my praise, pouring over the book. Very Happy!
In the book I contributed five projects, one of Sean playing Cricket, one of my brothers in Iceland (with a photo by Karl), one of a dear friend Beth’s Daughter, one of Postcards from Karl and one of a flower π
So Happy! So Happy!
The one thing I undoubtedly miss the most from High School (other than near daily doughnut persons and caramel slices, for which my figure shows the absence of such goodies) is music.
I miss so much my beloved Olga, my farting bedpost, more commonly identified as a Bassoon. I miss afternoons and mornings of rehearsals. I miss Jabsy chiding me for not practicing. I miss the enjoyment that I got through Music.
Olga was a Fox Renard 41, When I have the money (sometime after finishing uni but before kids) I will be buying a Bassoon, it may not be a 601 that could be considered the Rolls Royce of the Fox line-up. It probably will be a 222, though if any one has a spare US$16K, feel free to buy me a 601 π I will start taking lessons and putting the dedication into it that I didn’t when in High School.
When I was with Karl in San Jose after I finished year 12, I made a trip up to Berkely to visit Forrests, I may not have bought anything and saw the sales assistants as utter snobs, but I was awed by the fact that whilst in that store I was surronded by other double reeders.
Whilst I do have a flute, for which I played before changing to the Bassoon, she just didn’t bring me the satisfaction that Olga brought me. Also I never was a decent flute player ;).
Not just Olga I miss but the busyness of getting ready for a concert, the singing in choirs. I miss making music.
I found cooking by numbers, a fair while ago, but then lost it in my bookmarks and after endless searches and asking for it on 2peas, I found it tonight from a links page on a links page on a links page. So happy to have it back in my life π
to my youngest older sister Anika! Happy Birthday from us down here to you up there. Hope you have a great day π
After netball on Saturday night (they won), Sean and I headed over to Balmoral for Pizza and a Movie. Always love having pizza at Tomato Brothers, so yummy pizza and the restaurant decor can only be described as 100% kitsch π If any one ever visits Brisbane, I always recommend a visit there or to Earth ‘n’ Sea Pizza undoubtedly the two best wood fired pizza places in Brisbane
For the movie we went to see Melinda and Melinda, a really interesting and thought provoking yet witty Woodey Allen Movie. We ran into two of Karl’s friends (Damo and Casey) as well who went to see the same movie as us. Took a great line from it. "Life is Messy". Three words that are so true π
Cricket again yesterday, the guys lost today :(, they were one down and ended up been all out for 117 and the other team reached 119 with their first two batters
Today, I worked this morning and am now at home working on my last essay: How come so few Europeans conquered so much of Asia? Can’t wait till this week is over, especially since I hope to go to the races on Saturday for the
Joe Richards Menswear Qld Oaks Day at Eagle Farm. Will need to do some shopping before that though π
