This time tomorrow, Sam and I will be in the car heading for the airport. We fly out tomorrow to spend two weeks in Bali. To say I am excited would be an understatement. The last few days I have had very broken sleep. I packed most of my stuff last night and I am soo looking forward to spending two weeks exploring Bali. Two weeks away from work, family, work, the indecisive Brisbane spring weather. Two weeks of sun, the beach, shopping, eating, exploring, walking and plenty of fun.

24 + 6 minutes of fireworks, 56/365
I am very fortunate to have developed some very good mates through work and in some ways will be sad to see them posted back to base at the end of the year but that is the life of the ADF. For my birthday I was taken to Riverfire, and oh what a nice night it was. Fireworks, F-111 dump and burn, food, crazy chatter, crowds and a Chris Isaak concert. And of course watching The Roulettes as we drove in.
Washing, 57/365
Sunday, almost always a day of washing and ironing. This Sunday was a big wash as I started mentally packing my clothes for Bali.
Birthday headband, 58/365
This is one of the goodies I bought myself for my birthday. A very adorable handmade from Lupin Handmade
Breakfast, 59/365
With not very long now till I go to Bali, I am eating up my perishables left right and centre!
Screen Real Estate with Tony Mott, 60/365
I now have a 22″ widescreen on my desk. It is a big change from the 15″ wide screen on my laptop…. Whoa!!! Very much nicer for lounging on my bed watching TV or playing with photos.
Jacob’s Ladder, now in red, 61/365
They (the council) painted Jacob’s Ladder red as part of a small spaces program a little while ago. I keep on meaning to stop and take a photo each time I go to the ortho but forget…. I went to the ortho today and took the photo. The stairs look so cool now!
A Foiled Birthday
I turned the pretty average 24 today, I am officially in my mid 20s now!
The girls called me shortly after leaving work yesterday and told me that I was to sleep in this morning and come to work at 0830 instead of my usual arrival between 0730 and 0800. When I walked towards the office, all I could see was Al-Foil all over my desk 😀 I walked in to hugs from the girls and Al-Foil. They did fantastic job of Al-Foiling my desk, my drawers, my chair, my stationary, everything!
We had decided yesterday to have hot dogs for lunch and one of the girls had said she would bake me a cake. I very much believed that would mean the purchase of a cake from woolies. I was to learn today that no, she had actually baked me a cake! I was quite impressed.
I went down to see one of the doctors and she asked me if we were having the Lamingtons she had given me for morning tea at 0930. I just said ???? what do you mean morno’s?? We are having hot dogs for lunch. Thinking to myself crazy doctor. I went back to my desk and oh about 0930, Cathy swings her chair round to face me and goes “Tea?” I go mmm I don’t know this morning, she goes “come on” and off we go to the lunch room with our tea cups in hand. I open the door to the lunch room and before me I see my fellow medical staff and the interviewing staff and a big spread of mornos 😀 I was speechless for the second time in as many hours.
For lunch Hot Dogs were made 🙂
For Arvo’s I had a lamington, well half because Cathy stole half of it.
Then it was time for the F-111 trial fly-over for Riverfire tomorrow night. I got video of the flyover but it doesn’t currently want to get off my SD card. This is the view from the testing room on the floor below me. oh the city is pretty.
I was absolutely touched at the effort that the girls and boys had gone to to make my day special 😀
Then it was home to find a birthday parcel from dear Georgie currently in Sydney 😀 Now I’m watching the footy and hoping the Lions can beat the Bulldogs….

Frocking up to Dine In
Two Fridays ago work had a Dining In night which was nice experience.
I wore a dress that had originally been my semi-formal dress prior to a few alterations that Mum and I did.
My shoes 🙂 When I wore this dress in high school, I wore a pair of black heels under it. With the hemline going up, new shoes were needed. These were the first pair of shoes I seriously tried on. Were marked at $290, then reduced to $50 as they were a season old and the scanned at $19.95!! Bargain and very comfy as well.
A photo to show how the dress looked after the alterations.
Then a photo of myself and one of the girls I work with near the end of the night 😀
Had some fantastic food, a lot of fun and heard some hilarious stories.
Getting Easier
One of the best things I have done this year is to buy my little camera. So handy to be able to pull a camera out of my bag and take a photo.
11:00, late, tired. 30/365
Monday nights can be quite late nights for me it all depends on what happens at SES, if we have training off site it will be a late night. I like to be in bed by 10, then I can easily get up at 6.
Construction City, 31/365
I took and RDO on Tuesday to go out and visit a friend and her new baby. With all the road and tunnel building that is happening in Brisbane at the moment thy skyline is dominated by cranes and the like.
Ready to Fly, 32/365
Every day is a day closer to Bali and I picked up my passport last week and can now leave the country 😀
Today it is not a happy face, 33/365
You may remember the photo I took on day 5, well on this day when I was coming back from the orthodontist it was not a happy face. I don’t think I have ever seen it as an unhappy face before. I wonder what happened to make it be switched to an unhappy face.
Bed time, 34/365
Looking at this photo on day 43, it is hard to believe that when this photo was taken I was sleeping under a doona, blanket and a quilt, now I just have the doona.
abandoned, 35/365
This photo makes me laugh, for a few days, there was this pram abandoned in the park across the lane. There was a blanket it in but that was it. It moved round the park a bit as I guess the basketball kids played with it. Whenever someone walked past they would go nearer to check that there was no baby in it. The day after I took this photo the pram was taken by someone.
Sweet Potato Tree, 36/365
Sundays are farm days and last Sunday I spent some time under the custard apple tree digging up sweet potatoes.
Sandal Toes, 37/365
The start of the days getting hotter. I remember coming home and just grabbing a glass of water and kicking back on the deck.
Waiter, there is a flower in my tea, 38/365
At work I have a Bodum YoYo tea cup which I just love. One of the teas I am drinking the most at the moment is called Japanese Lime, which has these cute little daisies that unfurl and float about as the tea infuses.
A Story waiting to be told, 39/365
Georgie was in in town last week and we met up for breakfast on Wednesday at the Hotel Orient. I was a little early so I went for a stroll down to the river. The sun was blinding!
