yeehaw!

No, I am not thinking of running off with a cowboy (eww!) but the mark I received on the essay I handed in last week. Are you ready?

90 out of 100! High Distinction baby! :):):):) I don’t ever recall ever getting a mark that high before so big thanks to my Mum for helping me proof-read it. I was very unsure of the mark I would receive I was expecting perhaps mid to high 70’s but no way was I expecting a 90. The lecturer for this subject knows Chinese politics etc probably better than the CPC themselves do so I am extremely happy with my mark 🙂

I have now completed the initial applications for two graduate programs only 500 more to go.

On Saturday night Andrea who is one of my bestest friends celebrated her 21st birthday and her graduation all in one night. It was one hell of a night, lots of laughs lots of fantastic food. Dude, a rice buffet with black bean beef, curries and butter chicken (I love the butter chicken) and mmm sesame prawns or spring rolls can never say no to more spring rolls. Fantastic night 🙂

hectic

I don’t know how I am going to live through this coming week, though I of course know I will.

Next week I have two mid-semester exams and a 750 word analysis on how a Chinese government whitepaper contributes to a better understanding of internal policy perspective (which is going to be hard).

Then in non-uni work I have five graduate programs to apply for between this Sunday and the following Sunday. I need to get into one of these programs, hopefully from the 20+ I am applying for I will get one. Otherwise I have no idea what I will be doing next year.

Tomorrow is a write-off in terms of getting uni work done as I am working 7-3 and am then driving up to a friend’s 21st/grad party 1hr north of here. Saying that I will get a bit of uni work done on my breaks at work but not much.

Though I haven’t had any late nights yet, I think next week might have a few 🙁

On a less woo is me topic, check out these things.

Tracy’s wonderful new digital kits, that girl has “it” and always has and she’s my second mother so I am obliged to brag about her. Go check her kits out, you know you want to.

After all the hoo-ha the recent Tourism Australia ad caused in well everywhere except Australia. There was bound to be some spoofs. First is the original for you to watch and then some of the spoofs.

Where the bloody hell are you?

Spoof 1 – Really well done but if you don’t know much about current Australian politics it probably won’t make much sense.

Spoof 2 – Not as well done, this was from CNNN/The Chaser and still is mainly about current affairs in Australia but still great.

Spoof 3 – This is a series of interviews with tourists at Sydney Harbour, asking their views on the wording of the campaign and what would be more appropriate

April 4

me, april 4 2006Because I hate coming up with post titles, lets just use the date as the title. I don’t like posts without photos, so I took a photo of myself today just before I left for uni. Though my hair did not last long before I tied it up in a bun, I like having “longish” hair but I hate the feel of it getting sweaty on my neck. yuck.

I even wore a necklace to uni today, not something I usually do, it is one I made myself for a Scrapbook Creations article I did on making jewellery from Making Memories Stitched Tin Tiles probably two years ago now. I love those tiles.

On to cool things.

I was already ten months ago to make a grass couch in the backyard after seeing this article on the Readymade website and Mum was keen for it as well except we live in a place where that thing called water isn’t exactly growing on trees so if we wanted to have a grass couch in the backyard we would have to move a far, far way away. So dude, if I ever move somewhere where I could do such a thing, it would be the first thing on my agenda.

So imagine how much I loved this article on Treehugger today? Dude, could you imagine five or six of these in a circle, how much would it rock, lounging in grass chairs with a few cold ones with your mates on a Sunday arvo or lazying around on a sunny morning with the paper?

A total eclipse of the heart

Well ok not a total eclipse of the heart but a total eclipse of the sun is happening today if you happen to be in the right places in the world and of course Karl and some of his friends are you get to have quite a unique experience. They are in Side, Turkey preparing for fantastic time, which I can’t wait to see his photos from.

A couple of years ago I remember getting a fantastic book out of the library called Eclipse!: The What, Where, When, Why, and How Guide to Watching Solar and Lunar Eclipses, which listed all the solar and lunar eclipses that were going to happen till I think round 2020, great book for planning future holidays 🙂

In other news, Griffth (my uni) did exceptionally well at the recent Commonwealth Games, in fact if we were a country we would have finished fifth on the medal talley, which I think is quite cool 🙂

I’m not doing anything as exciting, just sitting in a computer lab at Uni, working on an essay, waiting for news to break on news.google.com.au and typing some more. I want to be in Turkey.

some more road trip layouts

These a couple of layouts I have been working on recently in breaks from study/uni, which is what I am doing at the moment – finishing off a presentation for class tomorrow on “ownership and management issues in state owned enterprises in China” which will also be the topic of my semester essay. How Fun!!

catch-up

Doing five subjects at uni is sooo much more work than doing the usual four subjects! All I seem to be doing is reading, reading, reading – the “joys” of doing an Arts course 🙂

Brief run down of the last couple of days.

Went to the MoB with Mum on Sunday to see Regarding Retro, not quite what we expected, we would have liked to actually seen the collections in the flesh instead of seeing photos of them – all those aprons would have been a treat.

After that we went into Silk Road to look at work shoes for me, after wearing a pair round the store for 45mins or so I have decided they are better than what I have had before but still no where near perfect. I am currently wearing them round the house this week to see how they feel for more extended periods of time before deciding what to do with them. They are a pair of Ecco Tail – lots of Gore-Tex and rubber so any dairy spills at work will not be a problem. Mum picked up a pair of Patagonia shorts and we drooled over the Women’s Therm-a-Rests very comfy and pink to boot.

Worked this morning before going to Uni for a lecture and a tute, currently doing this weeks readings for my International Relations Ethics subject and I am about to start work on a tutorial presentation on “Ownership and Management Problems in Chinese State Enterprisesâ€? as well a short essay providing an analysis of a Chinese Government whitepaper on the “Building of Political Democracy in China”.

My life basically consists of reading bricks, high-lighters, a pen and a wad of writing paper.

It seems that U2 will be coming to our shores in November – so a bit less than a year after we bought our tickets.
