Like many Australians or New Zealanders, the songs of Crowded House and Split Enz are songs that are sung sometimes drunkenly at karaoke at the local pub, songs that are belted out at sports games, songs that you turn the volume up when they come on Triple M. So it came as a great shock to me when I saw on the news that Paul Hester is dead, those four words meaning the end of an era.
No chance of revival tours or CDs, no more of that groovey drumming by Paul, no chance of seeing Paul Hestor at Twin Towns. It is all over.
I would like to give my condolences to his family and friends and join with the rest of Australia and New Zealand in expressing our sorrow. Depression is everywhere in our society, I have met many people that are recieving treatment for depression, we must let them tell us what their troubles are, we don’t want to see another sucide in the park. Don’t Dream It’s Over
Crowded House
There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re travelling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win.
